Folk music gig with Alex Hart Trio and support from Anna Renae at Hanger Farm Arts Centre.
Alex Hart Trio play Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Wednesday 9 September, with support from Anna Renae. Hart is a south-west singer-songwriter who first came to notice at 18, when producer Neil Stainton co-wrote and recorded her debut album On This Day with her. She worked closely with Torbay musician Barney Dine, and a cover of Angie Stone's 'I Wish I Didn't Miss You' with electronic duo Electronic Youth reached number two in the Music Week Dance Charts and got support from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, which led to high-profile festival slots.
From there, she signed to US label OK!Good Records and Right Track Records in the UK, and recorded Life Saver with Grammy-winning producer Terry Britten. She later joined Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre's band, touring the UK, Europe and the US, and her voice and multi-instrumental playing also feature on a Seth Lakeman album. BBC Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe has described her as 'the Stevie Nicks of Folk'.
She's just released VISIONS, which she bills as her most exciting album to date. The night starts with Anna Renae on support, and the main set is the Alex Hart Trio. The whole thing takes place in Hanger Farm Arts Centre's restored 18th-century timber-framed barn, so it's a bit of a different setting from your usual gig.
