Progressive rock musician Alan Reed performs with The Daughters of Expediency, promoting his albums and rejoining Pallas.
Alan Reed and the Daughters of Expediency play The 1865 on Tuesday 1 September, with doors opening at 18:30. It's a standing show, recommended for ages 8 and over, and under-14s need to be accompanied by an adult.
Reed is a figure at the heart of British prog, and this set draws from a fair bit of ground. He's promoting three of his albums — Grey Sky Thinking, The Messenger and Elemental — alongside a boxed set of his Inside Out years. So if you've followed his solo work across those records, there's plenty here to pull from. He's also back with Pallas, with Neil Winton on guitar and Sunny on backing vocals, and has put out the Dancing With Ghosts EP since then.
There's a bit of personal context to the gig, too. Reed was diagnosed with Parkinson's in late March 2025, and he's determined to keep performing. This show is part of that, and he's bringing the Daughters of Expediency with him to do it.
