A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon is playing at Showcase Cinema De Lux in Southampton, with screenings running from Friday 4 September through to Thursday 10 September. It's a stop-motion animation from Aardman, the studio behind the original Shaun the Sheep and Wallace & Gromit, and it's the kind of thing that works as well for the kids as it does for anyone who just likes a bit of claymation. The story takes Shaun and the flock from their quiet life on the farm and throws them into a bit of a cosmic mix-up, so it's a fair way off the usual farmyard antics.

If you're planning a trip, the cinema is up on Level 4 of the West Quay Shopping Centre, right in the middle of town. It's a convenient spot if you're already heading into the city centre for shopping or meeting up, and since it's running for a full week, you've got plenty of dates to choose from rather than having to wedge it into one specific afternoon. On Saturdays and Sundays, there's a 09:30 showing, which is a handy early slot if you want to get it out of the way before the rest of the day takes over.

Tickets are £8.90 to £11.40 for adults, with a few different concessions to keep in mind: OAPs and NUS students are £7.95 to £8.95, under-15s are £7.45 to £7.95, and military is £7.50 with a valid ID. There's a gallery option at £16.40 and a family ticket for £30, which is the one to go for if you're taking the whole brood. A couple of extras to watch out for: XPlus films add £3, 3D films add £2, and 3D glasses are £1. The film runs until Thursday 10 September, so you've got a good window to fit it in.
