Tex-Mex country-rocking boogie show with pedal steel guitar and fiddle; cowboy hats compulsory.
The Snake Oil Band are playing Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Thursday 17 September, and they're bringing friends along for the night. It's a one-off show, two hours of Tex-Mex country-rocking boogie built around soaring pedal steel guitar, flavoursome fiddle, Texas beer bar boogie and Mexican-inspired melodies. The band describes themselves as UK Tex-Mex trailblazers, and they've been at it for 18 years, with regular appearances at The Great Dorset Steam Fair, UK Chilli Festivals and the Southern Country Awards Show at the Lakeside Country Club.
For this particular night, they're teaming up with special musical guests, so it's a bit more than the usual line-up. The whole thing is set in Hanger Farm's converted 18th-century timber barn, which fits the bill better than a standard stage would. And there's a dress code to keep in mind: cowboy hats and Western wear are strongly encouraged, so if you've got a hat in the cupboard, this is the night to bring it out.
