Free outdoor tree planting event run by SCC Community Forestry for National Tree Week, with tools and refreshments provided.
SCC Community Forestry are running a free tree planting day at High Hazels Park on Sunday 29 November, from 10:30 to 14:00. It's part of National Tree Week, when the public is encouraged to get stuck in and help grow the city's canopy, so if you've ever wanted to put a tree in the ground, this is a proper chance to do it.
One of the best bits is that you don't need any previous experience. The team from SCC Community Forestry provides all the tools and equipment on the day, so you just need to turn up. They'll show you what to do, and you can spend a few hours outdoors getting your hands dirty. It's a straightforward way to contribute something tangible to the local landscape, and since it's a community day, you'll be working alongside other people from around the city doing the same thing.
They're also keeping people looked after while they work, with drinks and light refreshments served throughout the session. It's a morning and early afternoon thing, so you can get your planting done and still have the rest of your Sunday for yourself.
