Non-profit fundraising music festival celebrating inclusivity with live music across many genres, in memory of Chris Wright.
Too Damn Loud Festival '27 is coming to Sidney & Matilda on Saturday 29 May, running through to Sunday 30 May. It's a non-profit, fundraising festival in its third year, and it brings together artists across a wide range of genres rather than sticking to one particular sound. The organisers describe it as a celebration of culture, talent and inclusivity through live music.
There's a specific story behind the festival that explains why it's built the way it is. It's rooted in the memory of Chris Wright, known to friends as 'Big Chris', a passionate music lover who, alongside his bandmate Brian, helped organise the 2022 festival 'Plug In for Parkinson's'. After Chris died in March 2023, the organisers built Too Damn Loud around the bands he loved and supported, so the line-up is shaped by his own taste in music.
That's also why it's a non-profit event. The fundraising side is part of what it does, and the festival continues to run as a way of keeping that connection to Chris and the music he championed. Because it pulls from so many different genres, you're likely to hear a fair bit of variety over the course of the weekend rather than one single style.
