Free acoustic singer-songwriter set by Thomas Willett, using a Loop Station to layer his originals and covers of Coldplay, Oasis and Gerry Cinnamon.
Thomas Willett plays Abbeydale Ballroom on Thursday 22 October, from 8 pm to 10 pm, with doors opening at 7 pm. He's a fresh face on the Sheffield music scene, and this is an acoustic singer-songwriter set built around a Loop Station. If you're not familiar with how that works, it's a pedal that lets him record a phrase on the fly and loop it, layering sounds one on top of the other as he goes. It's a way of turning a solo acoustic gig into something more dynamic, as he builds out the accompaniment himself rather than playing a single part from start to finish.
The setlist pulls from two different places. There are covers of Coldplay, Oasis and Gerry Cinnamon, so you'll hear some familiar songs alongside his own originals. It's a mix of the songs most people know and the ones he's written himself, and the Loop Station runs through both.
