Back-to-back night of music and stories from the American Americana trio The Sam Chase Trio at Cafe No.9.
The Sam Chase Trio play Cafe No.9 on Thursday 5 November, one of two back-to-back nights they're doing in Sheffield. They're coming over from San Francisco, California, and the set is billed as music, stories and songs from across the Atlantic.
The trio blends modern Americana with storytelling, strings and harmonies. Sam Chase is the storyteller of the group, and his part of the set leans on soul-baring ballads, while Devon McClive and Chandra Johnson bring the musicianship. Between them they cover the three elements they describe their sound by: the songs, the stories, and the strings.

It's a small room — around 40 capacity — so it's a close-up show rather than a big one. The two dates are back-to-back, so if you can't make the Thursday, there's a second night to choose from. Doors open at 19:00 and the music starts at 19:30. Tickets are £22, which includes the booking fee. The venue is Cafe No.9, 9 Nether Edge Road, Sheffield S7 1RU.
