Elite League ice hockey match between the Sheffield Steelers and the Flames at the Utilita Arena.
Sheffield Steelers take on the Flames at Utilita Arena Sheffield on Saturday 9 January, with puck-drop at 19:00. It's a home game for the Steelers, and if you're not already familiar with them, they're the city's professional ice hockey team. They've been around since 1991, and the arena on Broughton Lane is their home ground, known to fans as the 'House of Steel'.
They play in the Elite League, and the 2023/24 season was a big one for them — they clinched the league title for the first time since 2015/16. That win did more than just add another trophy to the cabinet; it qualified them for the 2024/25 Champions Hockey League, taking the club into European competition. This match is a season ticket fixture, so it's part of the regular run of games that make up their campaign.

If you're planning to go, there's a practical bit you'll want to get sorted beforehand. The venue advises that your phone is your ticket, and screenshots won't work at the gate. You'll need to download your tickets through the Utilita Arena Sheffield App, so it's worth getting that set up and your ticket downloaded before you head down to Broughton Lane. With the game starting at 19:00 on a Saturday night, you've got plenty of time to get it sorted.
