Super League Basketball match between the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks and the Newcastle Eagles at the Canon Medical Arena.
The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks welcome the Newcastle Eagles back to the Canon Medical Arena on Sunday 6 December, a Super League Basketball clash that carries a bit of baggage from earlier in the season.
If the name rings a bell, it's because the Sharks are a cornerstone of professional basketball in the UK. They're one of the most decorated franchises in British Basketball League history, with league championships, play-off crowns, and national cup and trophy triumphs to their name. Beyond the court, the club runs community outreach programmes and is rooted in the city's sporting landscape, so they're as much a part of Sheffield as the arena they play in.
This isn't the first time these two have met this season. The Eagles were here at the Canon Medical Arena on 18 October, and they walked away with an 87-81 win. That puts the Sharks in the position of playing for revenge on their own floor, which is usually how you want these things to go. It's a Super League Basketball championship game, so it counts toward the standings, and the result from October gives the Sharks something to settle.
