Sheffield Sharks v Manchester Basketball

Sheffield Sharks take on Manchester Basketball at the Canon Medical Arena on New Year's Eve, 31 December. It's a New Year's Eve game, so if you're looking for something to do before the midnight celebrations kick off, this is a good shout.

For those who don't know the history, the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks are one of the most decorated franchises in British basketball, with multiple league championships, play-off crowns, and national Cup and Trophy triumphs. They're a big part of the city's sporting scene, and they run community outreach programmes alongside the basketball. The team is led this season by captains Alihodzic and Ocherobia.

It's a bit of a different season for the league, too. The Super League Basketball has expanded to ten teams, with Liverpool Basketball joining the fold and playing their first season at the M&S Bank Arena. The play-off format has changed as well: only the top six seeds make it through, and the final is set for The O2 in London on Sunday 16 May 2027. Every team takes part in the Super League Basketball Cup, and the Sharks earned a bye straight into the quarter-finals after finishing in the top six last season.

The game tips off at 4pm, with doors opening at 3pm, so you'll be out in time for whatever you've got planned for the evening. Tickets start from £12.
