Inaugural trail runs marking Remembrance Day at Rother Valley Country Park, with a two-minute silence before 5km, 10km and half marathon distances.
Rother Valley Remembrance Day Trail Runs are coming to Rother Valley Country Park on Sunday 8 November, and they're billed as an inaugural edition. The day starts at 09:30, but the running doesn't actually kick off until the afternoon: there's a two-minute silence at 11:00, and the races start at 11:02. It's a Remembrance Day event, so that pause is the centre of the morning.
Wild Deer Events are the ones behind it, and they describe it as bringing 'WILD' trail running to the lakes and woodland paths of the park. The course circles the lakes and cuts through the woodland on undulating terrain, taking you off the usual parkrun route and onto ground many people around here have never trodden. It's a different side of the park than you'd see on a casual walk.
There are three distances to choose from, so it works for different levels. There's a 5km trail run for over-11s, a 10km for over-15s, and a brand-new half marathon for over-17s. Timing is handled by Timing Up North, with live chip timing for every runner. Every finisher gets a bespoke medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a post-race snack and drink. If you want a commemorative event T-shirt, you can add one for £12.00.
