Easy 2.5-mile circular evening walk led by David A of the Sheffield 20s & 30s Walking Group, from the Shalesmoor tram stop.
The Sheffield 20s & 30s Walking Group are out on Friday 23 October for the Ponderosa Preambulation, an evening stroll that starts and ends at The Wellington on Henry Street in Shalesmoor. David A is leading this one, and it's billed as the group's last evening walk of the season, so it's a good chance to get out for one more before the nights properly close in.
The route takes you up the hill to Ponderosa, then up the steps to Crookes Valley Road, before dropping down into Crookes Valley Park to loop around the dam. From there it heads towards Weston Park and eventually circles back to where you started. It's a circular walk of 2.5 miles with 90 metres of ascent, which should take about an hour to complete. The whole thing stays on pavements, so you won't need to worry about mud, even this late in October.
The group is part of the Ramblers, a registered charity, and all its leaders are volunteers. If you're not a member, you can join up to three walks before signing up, so there's no need to commit before you've had a look around. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to come along too.
