Fell running race where runners choose their own route across the hills and moors of the Eastern Moors near Sheffield.
Peak Raid Race 3 comes to the Eastern Moors and Burbage Valley on Sunday 15 November, the third event in the Peak Raid series. It's a fell running race that takes you across the hills, moors and dales of the Peak District, and it's not your usual marked course.
The thing that sets Peak Raid apart is that you're not following a line of tape or a set of signs. You're given a course to navigate, and you have to pick your own way around it. That means you'll be making your own decisions on the flyโdeciding whether to take the direct line over a ridge or drop down into a valley and loop back around. It's as much a test of route choice and navigation as it is of fitness, so your map work matters as much as your pace.
Because you're choosing the line, no two runners will take exactly the same path. You'll be working your way across the Eastern Moors and Burbage Valley, with the Peak District landscape as your backdrop. If you're used to following a well-trodden trail, this is a bit of a shift; you're the one deciding where to go, and that's where the challenge lies.
