Talk by Keira Chapman on the ritual year, part of the Off the Shelf series at the Millennium Gallery.
Keira Chapman is speaking at the Millennium Gallery on Saturday 24 October, as part of the Off the Shelf series. The talk is called The Ritual Year, and it's one of the sessions in the Off the Shelf: Festival of Words run by the University of Sheffield.
Chapman's talk focuses on the ritual year, the cycle of dates and traditions that mark the passing of the seasons. It's a subject that sits comfortably in the gallery's surroundings: the Millennium Gallery houses Sheffield's visual art collection and the Graves Gallery, and it also runs Yorkshire Artspace, which provides studio space for 170 artists and makers across two city-centre sites. The gallery is on Arundel Gate, in the heart of the city.
Off the Shelf is a festival of words, so this is a talk rather than a performance or an exhibition. It's part of a wider programme from the University of Sheffield, which brings writers and speakers into the city's cultural spaces throughout the festival. Chapman's session on the ritual year is one of the titles in that line-up.
