An 18+ afternoon of rare Northern Soul grooves, spins and shuffles at The Viper Rooms in Sheffield.
The Northern Soul Day Party comes to The Viper Rooms on Saturday 24 October, from 3pm to 8pm. It's exactly what the name says: a Northern Soul night shifted into the afternoon, so you can get your dancing in while it's still light out. The music leans on uplifting tempos and driving beats, mixing the well-known anthems with the rarer, hidden gems that keep the dance floor moving.
If you're not familiar, Northern Soul is as much about the dancing as the records. The dance floor fills with spins, shuffles and non-stop movement, and the whole thing is built around that same spirit of a classic all-night soul session, just brought forward to the daytime. It's the kind of afternoon where you can spend a few hours on your feet and still be home in time for a proper Saturday night.
The event is run by Daytime Disco, who use a festival-style pricing model: the earlier you buy your ticket, the cheaper it is. There's also a Big Group Package for groups of ten or more, so if you're rounding up a crowd, it's worth sorting it early. Entry is strictly 18+, and they may ask for photographic ID on the door.
