Hometown anniversary show by Milburn, the Sheffield band that kick-started the city's indie revival, marking 20 years since their debut album 'Well Well Well'.
Milburn are back at Electric Studios on Saturday 24 October, playing a hometown show to mark twenty years since their debut album, Well Well Well. It's a Sheffield band returning to a Sheffield stage, and the whole night is built around that first record.
To get where they are, it helps to know where they started. Milburn formed in late 1999 when four school friends decided to start a band, and they're credited with kick-starting the Sheffield revival that would later give birth to Arctic Monkeys and Reverend & The Makers. Back then, the Sheffield Star described their style as touching on the toughness of Thin Lizzy and the melody of Stereophonics, with REM thrown in. It's a fair summary of that early sound: guitar-led, melodic, and rooted in the city.
The original four-piece eventually went defunct, but they returned eight years later after overwhelming public demand. This show is a homecoming in more than just the location; it's a look back at the record that started it all. Well Well Well came out twenty years ago, and that's the focus of the night.

It's a Saturday night in Highfield, so you've got the whole evening to work with. The show runs from 6:30pm to 10:15pm at Electric Studios on Leadmill Road, with Milburn as the sole bill. If you've followed them since the early days, it's a chance to hear those first songs back in the city where they were written.
