Mike + The Mechanics play Sheffield City Hall on their Back on the Track Tour 2027.
Mike and the Mechanics play Sheffield City Hall on Monday 14 June 2027. It's part of their Back on Track tour, and it'll be the only Sheffield date on the run.
For anyone who needs the backstory, the band started in 1985 as Mike Rutherford's side project from Genesis. They've spent more than 40 years releasing some of the best-known songs of a generation — The Living Years, All I Need Is A Miracle and Over My Shoulder are the ones most people recognise — and they've kept working as a live act throughout. There was a hiatus between 2005 and 2010, but Rutherford brought the band back with a new line-up: Andrew Roachford, Tim Howar, Luke Juby, Anthony Drennan and Gary Wallis. That's remained the core of the group ever since.
Since the restart, they've put out The Road in 2011 and played 374 shows together, with three albums in their wake, two of which broke into the UK top 10. Nic Collins joined on drums in 2023 for the Refuelled! tour, so that's the line-up you'll see on stage. The critics have been fair: The Telegraph gave a Royal Albert Hall show four stars, and the Northern Echo called a Newcastle performance 'exemplary'.
