Stand-up comedy matinee performance by Michael Akadiri at Sheffield Plate.
Michael Akadiri is playing Sheffield Plate on Saturday 21 November, doors open at 19:00. He's touring his latest show, Don't Call Me Uncle!, which follows two previous UK tours.
There's a bit of a double life to the man on stage. Akadiri is a stand-up comedian and a resident junior doctor, and he's also been nominated for the Biggest Award in Comedy. He picked up the Komedia New Comedy Award and the Comedian of Medicine Award at the Haags Comedy Festival, and his work has popped up on Comedy Central LIVE, ITV's Stand Up Sketch and Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer. On the radio, he's been on Capital Xtra's Breakfast Show, LBC and BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends, and he's supported Jason Manford and Emmanuel Sonubi on tour.
The reviews give you a fair idea of what he brings. Metro called him "supremely talented and likeable", Chortle described him as "hugely entertaining" and the Guardian noted he's "politically punchy".
