Christmas concert by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band with a short set by the Grimethorpe North of England Youth Band at Sheffield Cathedral.
Grimethorpe Colliery Band are playing a Christmas celebration at Sheffield Cathedral on Saturday 5 December, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. They're billed as the world's most famous colliery band, and the evening is built around festive favourites and sublime soloists. There's also a nod to Brassed Off, the film that brought them to global attention.
It's not just the main band on stage, either. The Grimethorpe North of England Youth Band will play a short set, putting the next generation of brass musicians in the spotlight alongside the senior band. Between the two, you'll hear the full range of the brass tradition, from the established names to the younger players coming through.
