Annual Christmas concert with The Black Dyke Band, the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus and the Sheffield Youth Choirs, hosted by BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia.
The Black Dyke Band are taking over Sheffield City Hall on Saturday 12 December for the Feast of Christmas Music, a concert that's billed as a much-loved annual event and a way to start the festive season. They aren't on their own, though: the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus and Sheffield Youth Choirs will be joining them, with BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia hosting the evening.
It's a big gathering of voices and brass, and it sits within the Hallé Orchestra's 2026/27 Sheffield International Concert Season, which is now in its 94th year. That season brings classical music from across the UK and around the world to the city, with six performances by the resident orchestra, the Hallé, alongside internationally renowned ensembles like the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Taiwan Philharmonic, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. There are also celebrated choirs and film music on the bill throughout the year, so this Christmas concert is one of several dates the Hallé is putting on across the city.
Having the Black Dyke Band on the bill brings a proper brass band sound to the mix, and with the Philharmonic Chorus and the Youth Choirs on board, there's a wide range of voices in the room. It's a big, choral-heavy night, and with Amy Garcia on the hosting duties, it's set up as a proper occasion rather than just a recital. If you're looking for a way to kick off the festive season, this is a good place to start.
