Alpkit cycling sportive with three gravel loops of 15, 20 and 30km where riders refuel on doughnuts at the start and halfway, with all proceeds to the Alpkit Foundation.
Alpkit are hosting the Doughnut Dash at Alpkit Hathersage on Saturday 24 October, from 9:30 am to 4 pm. It's a day for people who like riding bikes and eating doughnuts, and the two go hand in hand here. You set out on a mixed-surface route with off-road gravel sections, choosing from three loops of roughly 15km, 20km and 30km. Each loop calls back to Alpkit twice to refuel on doughnuts, and every one you eat reduces your overall time. It's as much about how many doughnuts you can get down as how fast you can ride, even while the clock keeps running.
It's staged as an unsupported sportive rather than a race, so you're on your own out there. Helmets are mandatory, there's no mechanic on standby, and you're responsible for your own navigation, safety and equipment. To help you find your way, a GPX route is emailed in advance, so you can load it onto your device before you set off. All proceeds go to the Alpkit Foundation, which they describe as helping more people 'Go Nice Places, and Do Good Things'.
