Hard rock and blues-tinged band Doomsday Outlaw return to their earlier sound live at Corporation.
Doomsday Outlaw play Corporation on Friday 27 November, and the set is a look back rather than a step forward. They're returning to their earlier sound, reworking material from their first two albums, Suffer More and Hard Times, with producer Dave Draper of The Wildhearts. If you've followed them from the start, those are the records they're digging back into.
It's a fair way back to the beginning. They self-released Suffer More in May 2016, which picked up strong praise from UK rock magazines and caught the attention of Frontiers Music srl, who signed them and put out Hard Times in May 2018. Their third album, Damaged Goods, reached number five in the rock charts. This show pulls from the first two, the songs they've gone back to and reworked with Draper.
That sound pairs heavy riffing and soaring vocals with a rock n' roll groove, and the lyrics draw on frontman Phil Poole's own life, which he's called "my own version of therapy". He's backed by Steve Broughton and Gavin Mills on guitars, John 'Ironfoot' Willis on drums and Indy on bass. They've shared stages with Stone Broken, Warrior Soul, Vintage Caravan, Electric Boys, Wayward Sons and Graham Bonnet, and played festivals including HRH and Bloodstock.
