Bounce By The Ounce Presents: DJ Bax & Friends

DJ Bax headlines Forge Warehouse on Friday 16 October, part of a night called Bounce By The Ounce Presents: DJ Bax & Friends. It's a joint venture between the promoters and the University of Sheffield DJ Society, so it's as much a student-linked night as a proper clubber's one.

They're billing it as a bootleg-fuelled bonanza, and that's the best way to describe what's on the decks. The set is built around bootlegs—those unofficial remixes and mash-ups that don't get a proper release—and they're not shy about the cheesier end of things. You'll get plenty of the more straightforward floor-fillers that everyone knows, but the bootlegs are what give the night its particular character. It's the kind of thing that works better in a room full of people than on a playlist.

DJ Bax takes the headline slot, with Alk-M-E on support and a few local grassroots talents filling out the rest of the bill. Having the local names on the lineup keeps it grounded in the Sheffield scene rather than just a touring act coming through for one night. The whole thing runs from 22:00 through to 04:00, so it's a proper late one that doesn't pack up until the early hours.

Forge Warehouse is at 148 Effingham Road, S4 7ZB. It's strictly over-18s, and they'll be checking photo ID at the door, so make sure you've got yours on you before you head down. Doors open at 22:00 and the music goes until 04:00.
