Free practical workshop for people new to marketing their own business, covering key messages, routes to market and marketing material.
Beginner's Guide to Marketing is running at Electric Works in Sheffield City Centre on Wednesday 18 November, starting at 10:00 AM. It's a free, practical workshop aimed at people who are new to marketing their own business, so it's geared towards the self-employed and small-scale start-ups rather than those already working in an agency.
The session covers three specific areas. First, how to build key messages — the core things you want people to know about what you do. Then, how to identify routes to market, which is basically figuring out where your customers actually are and how to reach them. Finally, how to create effective marketing material, the actual stuff you'll put out there once you've got the messaging and the channels sorted. It's a practical approach, so you'll leave with a better handle on how to get your business in front of the right people.
Because it's a workshop, you'll be working through these things rather than just listening to a talk. It's designed for people who are starting from scratch, so if you've never thought about a marketing strategy before, that's exactly who it's for. The focus is on the practical side of things — the how-to rather than the theory — so you can take what you learn and apply it to your own work straight away.

It's free to attend, and the session runs on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM at Electric Works in the city centre. Bookings are limited, and current listings report the session is almost full, so if you're interested, it's worth getting your name down sooner rather than later.
