A hands-on, jargon-free 90-minute taster session for complete photography beginners, covering auto and semi-auto modes and gear care.
Beginner Photography Taster Session runs at the Winter Garden on Saturday 7 November, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. It's a ninety-minute session in the heart of the city centre, at 90 Surrey Street, S1 2LH.
It's built for complete beginners, and the organisers keep it jargon-free. The session works through the camera's auto and semi-auto modes, explaining what they actually do and when to use them, and offers practical tips on how to look after your gear. You bring your own camera, whatever that is — a DSLR, mirrorless, compact or film. The idea is to get you comfortable with the basics without getting bogged down in technical talk.

They describe it as a relaxed, informative warm-up and a natural stepping stone towards their full Beginners Photography Course, so it's more of a taster than a full-on class. If you've got a camera sitting in a drawer and you're not quite sure what all the dials do, this is a low-pressure way to start using it. Refunds are available up to three days before the session, so you've got a bit of breathing room if your plans change. It runs from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday 7 November at the Winter Garden, 90 Surrey Street, Sheffield City Centre, S1 2LH.
