Double-headline folk, roots and Americana night with Vera Van Heeringen and The Rye Sisters, each playing a full headline set.
Vera Van Heeringen and The Rye Sisters share a bill at The Lescar on Friday 13 November, a double-headline night with each playing a full set. It's presented by Julia Waldron, who bills it as 'Three remarkable musicians. One very special night!'. The music sits in folk, roots and Americana territory, and since it's a double-headline, you're getting two proper sets rather than a support act and a main one.
Van Heeringen comes to the night from the hills of northern Powys in Wales, though she's originally from Holland. She's built her reputation as a back-up player on guitar, bass and fiddle across several Cajun and old-time bands, and spent more than five years as part of the New Rope String Band. That background in Cajun and old-time music runs right through the folk and roots sound she'll be bringing to the stage.
The Rye Sisters join her for the second half of the evening, and between the two of them, that's three musicians on the bill. It's an over-18s night, so keep that in mind if you're thinking of bringing anyone younger along.
