Singer-songwriter and poet Gabriel Moreno returns to Sheffield with his new album 'Carousel of Love', joined by Ned Cartwright on piano and Richard Moore on violin.
Gabriel Moreno returns to Cafe No9 on Friday 4 December, bringing a new album with him. He's a singer-songwriter, poet, performer and lyricist, and this is his first Sheffield date since his last visit. The new record is called Carousel of Love, and Moreno describes it as his most insightful songwriting to date, with ten songs devoted to human bonds and affection. On the night, he'll be joined by The Quivering Poets, and the set blends poetry, music and emotion.
Moreno has strong links to the London alternative Americana, folk and singer-songwriter scene, and he's known for his powerful live performances. His influences include Leonard Cohen, Tim Callahan and Nick Cave, and that lineage of lyric-led, atmospheric songwriting runs through his work. For this show, he'll be accompanied by Ned Cartwright on piano and Richard Moore on violin, so the songs will be fleshed out with piano and strings rather than just a guitar. It's a small room — around 40 capacity — and this is the first of two back-to-back nights at the venue.
