2027 WKO European Open Championships

The 2027 WKO European Open Championships are coming to the Pondsforge International Sports Arena in Sheffield from 14 to 16 May. It's a three-day event run by the World Karate Organisation, and the way it's laid out means you can pick the days that actually matter to you. Friday is for check-in, so if you're competing, that's your admin day. Saturday is when all the Ringsports take place, and Sunday is when all the Tatami sports go. If you're just coming to watch, you'll want to know which one you're after before you commit your weekend.

For those entering, the pricing is tiered by how many categories you're taking on. Pairs are £20 per pair, and a single category is £45. If you're doing two, it's £75; three, £100; four, £125. From there it scales up: five or six categories cost between £145 and £165, and seven or eight sit between £185 and £200. Nine categories are £215, and if you're going all out with thirteen, that's £250. The more you enter, the less you pay per category, so it's worth counting your events before you sign up.

It's a big weekend for the local karate community, with the arena playing host to the whole European Open. Whether you're competing across multiple categories or just coming along to see the Ringsports on Saturday and the Tatami sports on Sunday, it's a good chance to see the sport brought to Sheffield. If you're entering, just keep that Friday check-in in mind so you're sorted before the action starts.
