A night of electronic music featuring TR/ST, Marie Davidson, Dark Chisme and MØAA at the Substation venue.
TR/ST is playing a DJ set at Substation on Friday, October 30, with Marie Davidson, Dark Chisme and MØAA on the bill. The night is presented by Routine and Substation, the warehouse-style venue at 645 NW 45th St that opened in 2015 with a large main room, a second room and an outdoor patio, and a sound system driven by KV2 Audio.
TR/ST is the musical alias of Robert Alfons, a producer, singer and performer born in Winnipeg and based in Los Angeles. His albums fuse synth-pop, darkwave and anthemic emotion, from TRST in 2012 to Joyland in 2014 and The Destroyer in 2019. This is a DJ set, so the focus is on the dance floor rather than the live performance he's known for.
Marie Davidson is a French-Canadian producer who's been a transgressive force in dance music since her 2014 debut Perte d'identité, followed by the Polaris Music Prize nominee Working Class Woman in 2018 and Renegade Breakdown in 2020, a band project with her husband Pierre Guerineau and Asaël Robitaille. Her 2024 album City of Clowns returns to the club while drawing on her earlier work and framing it with a critique of Big Tech. Dark Chisme and MØAA round out the lineup.
