A hands-on workshop where attendees can create their own costume ears and horns using papier mâché forms for the Trolloween celebration.
Fremont Arts Council is hosting a Trolloween workshop on Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 9 PM, and the focus this time is ears and horns. It's part of the lead-up to Troll-O-Ween, which is two things at once: a birthday party for the Fremont Troll and a celebration of Halloween. The whole evening is built around costumes, and this workshop is where you can get yours sorted.
Inside, you've got two ways to go. You can make your own costume from scratch, or you can take one of the premade papier mâché forms and decorate it. If you're not the type to start with a blank slate, the forms give you a head start—you just bring the paint and the personality. It's a good spot to spend a few hours getting your look ready before the actual party rolls around.
To get the full picture, it helps to know what Troll-O-Ween looks like. The night is built on costumes, with a theatrical performance and a high-energy samba band and dancers dressed in lighted skeleton costumes who lead the festive crowd on a procession through the Fremont neighborhood. It's a big, loud, neighborhood-wide thing, so having your costume finished and ready to go makes it a lot easier to just jump in.
