A modern fable by Marisela TreviƱo Orta about desire, jealousy, and the ties that bind us to those we love, set in a small Brazilian fishing village.
The River Bride runs at The Falls Theatre inside the Union Arts Center from May 1 to May 23, 2027. It's a modern fable by Marisela TreviƱo Orta, and the production is directed by Tess Berger.
The story is set in a small Brazilian fishing village where old stories still hold power. It starts when a stranger is pulled from the Amazon River with no name, no memory, and no explanationāand a magnetism that neither of two sisters can resist. From there it pulls in themes of desire, jealousy, and the ties that bind us to the people we love. The production describes itself as part folklore, part love story, and part fairy tale with teeth.
