An intimate live-jazz tribute concert celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong, performed by a small ensemble.
The Jazz Room brings a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong to the Columbia City Theater on Saturday, November 14, starting at 6:30 PM. The night pairs two of the most influential figures in jazz history: Sinatra's velvet swing and Armstrong's bright, brassy sound and unmistakable voice.
The program pulls from both legacies. From Sinatra, you'll hear Fly Me to the Moon and My Way; from Armstrong, What a Wonderful World and When You're Smiling. The set is built around these familiar standards, with the two styles playing off each other throughout the evening.
This is part of The Jazz Room, an intimate live-jazz series of standalone shows, each around 60 minutes long and performed by small ensembles. The series leans on improvisation and a close connection between the performers and the audience, with a repertoire that ranges across jazz, blues, soul, and artist-led tributes. This particular night focuses on the contrast between Sinatra's smooth delivery and Armstrong's brass-led jazz.
