A beginner-friendly open textile workshop where participants can sew and create their own troll-inspired Halloween costumes using fabric, flowers and found objects.
Fremont Arts Council is hosting a Textile Tuesday workshop on Tuesday, October 27, from 6 PM to 9 PM, and this one is all about getting your costume ready for Trolloween. If you've never heard of it, Trolloween is a double celebration: it's a birthday party for the Fremont Troll and a neighborhood Halloween party rolled into one. The whole thing builds toward October 31, when the festivities close with costumes, a theatrical performance, and a high-energy samba band and dancers in lighted skeleton costumes leading a procession through the Fremont neighborhood.
This workshop is part of the lead-up to that big finale. Around the main event, there are other sessions focused on headpieces, ears, and horns, all inviting the community to make their own troll-inspired creations using fabric, flowers, and found objects. This particular Textile Tuesday session is a beginner-friendly open workshop where you can sew while working on your project, with help on hand for your Halloween costume. It's less of a structured class and more of a dedicated space to get your hands on your work, so you can bring in whatever you're already planning and put some time into it.

If you've been meaning to start a costume but haven't found the time or the right tools, this is a good way to get moving. You'll be working alongside other people in the neighborhood doing the same thing, and since it's beginner-friendly, you don't need to be a pro with a sewing machine to join in. It's a chance to pull together your fabric and found objects and actually get the sewing done before the 31st. The workshop runs from 6 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday, October 27, at the Fremont Arts Council in Seattle.
