A comedy about an ex-couple forced to keep a dinner casual after two years apart, with old wounds and sparks flying.
Table 17 opens at The Falls Theatre on Saturday, October 24, and runs through November 15. It's a comedy by Douglas Lyons, a two-time Emmy nominee who bills it as "the best date night you'll have all season."
The play follows Jada and Dallas, once engaged and now sitting across from each other at dinner two years after their breakup. Between them is a waiter with no boundaries, and around them are wounds that never quite healed and a spark neither can ignore. Lyons cites the 1997 film Love Jones as one of his inspirations for the piece.
On stage, Bria Samone Henderson plays Jada, Brandon JonesMooney plays Dallas, and Lamar Legend takes the role of the waiter. The production is part of the Union Arts Center's 2026/27 season, which runs five productions across the Allen and Falls theatres and spans four centuries of theatre. Table 17 is one of three new works grouped under "The Contemporaries," alongside Meteor Shower and The River Brideβplays the center describes as the kind that "will define the conversation long after the curtain falls."
