Make-Your-Own-Costume: A Free DIY Workshop/Craft/Sewing Day

Asylum Collective is hosting a free, all-ages costume workshop on Saturday, October 24, from 3 PM to 8 PM. It's a five-hour window to get your Halloween outfit sorted without having to buy a plastic bag costume from a big-box store. The day is part of their Open Studio and Tool Library access, so it's less of a structured class and more of a drop-in session where you can work at your own pace.

The collective provides the supplies: sewing machines, masks, hot glue guns, fabric, paint, and airbrushes. You'll also have access to their tool library, which holds more than 1,000 pieces, so if you're planning something that needs more than a needle and thread, the gear is there. You can modify old clothes, build sculptures, or just make something from scratch. And you don't have to start from zero—you're welcome to bring in your own projects and use the space to finish them.

It's an all-ages, all-levels day, so it works whether you've never touched a sewing machine before or you're already halfway through a build. The collective runs it as a welcoming community space, and since it's open for five hours, you can drop in for a quick fix or spend the whole afternoon there.
