Concert by singer-songwriter Sam Beam performing under the name Iron & Wine, with support from Ken Pomeroy.
Iron & Wine plays The 5th Avenue Theatre on Tuesday, October 13, with Ken Pomeroy opening. Iron & Wine is the solo project of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Sam Beam, who's been recording under the name for more than a decade. Originally from Chapin, South Carolina, he's built his following over eight full-length albums, numerous EPs and singles, and the first volumes of an Archive Series, with songs known for a cinematic feel.
Much of the set will likely draw from his latest record, Hen's Teeth, which came out February 27. It's his eighth album and his sixth for Sub Pop, and he describes it as a sibling record to 2024's Grammy-nominated Light Verse. The two were shaped in sessions in the Los Angeles foothills with studio owner and engineer Dave Way, who has worked with Fiona Apple, Jakob Dylan, and Sheryl Crow. The title Hen's Teeth comes from the phrase for something that shouldn't exist—a happy accident.

Beam didn't record it alone. The album features long-time collaborators including the Grammy-winning Americana trio I'm With Her—Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O'Donovan, and Sara Watkins—and the recording debut of Arden Beam, one of Sam's daughters. Ken Pomeroy opens the night, and the show is all ages, with a bar for those with valid ID. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
