A world premiere play about a 10-year-old boy and his Marine veteran uncle who discover real-life superpowers at a Comic Con, part of Seattle Children's Theatre's 2026-27 season.
Seattle Children's Theatre is bringing I'll Be Your Superhero to the Eve Alvord Theatre from October 15 to November 1, 2026. It's a world premiere, so this is the first time it's being staged. The story follows Xavier, a 10-year-old who goes to live with his uncle, John John, a Marine veteran. They both share a love of superheroes, and that common ground lands them at a Comic Con, where they're challenged to face their fears and discover that real-life superpowers show up in unexpected ways. It's built on imagination, humor, and superhero-sized fun, and it runs about 65 minutes with no intermission—short enough to keep kids engaged without a break.
There's a bit more to it than just the plot. I'll Be Your Superhero is part of The BIPOC Superhero Project, a national collaboration creating new stories with diverse heroes who reflect the world around us. It's one of several productions in the theatre's 2026-27 season, which they describe as a collection of stories that journey across worlds, generations, and imaginations, all connected by a shared search for belonging. That season runs through June 2027, so this is one of the earlier shows in the lineup.
