Pacific Northwest Ballet presents George Balanchine's La Sonnambula, Alejandro Cerrudo's Silent Ghost and PACOPEPEPLUTO, and a world premiere by Kyle Davis inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven.
Pacific Northwest Ballet brings Ghost Stories to Marion Oliver McCaw Hall from November 6 through 15, a mixed bill that pulls from a few different moods. The anchor of the program is George Balanchine's La Sonnambula, a one-act ballet about a beautiful sleepwalker and the misfortune she leaves in her wake. It's a haunting piece that hasn't been on the PNB stage since its company premiere on March 15, 2007, so this is its first return to the company in ten years.
Paired with that are two contrasting works by choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo: the moody Silent Ghost and the witty PACOPEPEPLUTO. Put together, they're meant to sketch a full picture of Cerrudo's style, one leaning into the atmospheric and the other into the playful. The whole evening runs about 90 minutes, so you'll see three distinct pieces in one sitting.
As a special addition, principal dancer Kyle Davis is contributing a world premiere work inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's narrative poem The Raven. It's a new piece coming straight from one of the company's own principals, and since it's a premiere, this run is one of the first times it'll be out in front of an audience.
