Adults-only Halloween night party at MOPOP with costume contest, scavenger hunt, tarot readings, trivia, and dancing, themed around 1950s and 60s sci-fi horror.
MOPOP is bringing back its annual Halloween party, Fashionably Undead, on Saturday, October 31, from 8 PM to midnight. It's an adults-only night for horror fans who like their scares with a side of camp, and this year the museum is leaning into the mid-century alien invasion genre. The whole thing draws on the atomic-age thrills and retro-futurist style of 1950s and '60s sci-fi, playing with that blurry line between horror and science fiction.
There's plenty to do across the museum. A costume contest awards a $500 grand prize, and you can cast your vote for the '100+ Horror Films to Watch Before You Die' based on MOPOP's 2026 shortlist. An alien invasion scavenger hunt takes you through the galleries, and a UFO-to-abduction photo op is set up for when you've got your costume just right. Movie trivia is run by Crypticon Seattle, tarot readings are handled by Mystic Storm, and a mini gallery called 'The Alien Invasion' traces the history and cultural themes of the genre. The Seattle Times supports the night.
On the music side, emcee Clara Voyance and DJ Deejay Hershe keep things moving, with Pearl Jam's Mike McCready as a special guest. A long list of tribute artists joins in, too: Devon Allman, Samantha Fish, Noah Hunt, Ayron Jones, Christone 'Kingfish' Ingram, Chris 'Whipper' Layton, Kevin McCormick, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Dweezil Zappa.
