Jazz pianist and producer Elijah Fox performs live with Tomo Nakayama at The Triple Door, blending jazz, impressionism and psychedelic soul.
Elijah Fox plays The Triple Door on Tuesday, December 1, with Tomo Nakayama joining him. It's an all-ages show, so you can bring the kids if you're planning a family night.
Fox is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and producer based in Los Angeles, and he's been playing piano since he was 11. He started under the mentorship of jazz pianist Yusuf Salim, who had played with Charlie Parker, and later studied at Oberlin Conservatory, graduating in 2017 before moving to New York City. He describes his sound as a blend of jazz, Impressionism, and psychedelic soul, and he releases instrumental music under the alias Soren Sostrom. He's signed to UMPG for publishing and Atlantic Records as an artist, and he also tours as the keyboardist for UK drummer Yussef Dayes.
Two of his piano pieces have found their way into the wider cultural conversation. His composition East Village was sampled by Drake and 21 Savage on Major Distribution, which reached number 3 on the Billboard Charts. His impressionistic improvisation Wyoming went viral on TikTok and has gathered over 45 million streams on Spotify. Between those, he's built a career moving across jazz and soul, and this is a chance to hear that work live in Seattle.
