Crossover thrash show by D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) with Seattle-area support acts at El Corazón.
D.R.I. play El Corazón on Saturday, October 17, with doors opening at 7 PM and the music starting at 7:30 PM. For those who don't know the name, D.R.I. stands for Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, a crossover thrash band from Houston, Texas, that's been around since 1982. They're widely credited as pioneers of the crossover style—the bridge between hardcore punk and thrash metal—and they've spent over four decades touring and recording.
Their start was fast and small: they recorded their first release, the Dirty Rotten EP, in November 1982 in a run of only 1,000 copies, and by 1983 they were being called the fastest band in the world. They toured with the Dead Kennedys on the 'Rock Against Reagan' tour, and in 1987 they released Crossover, the album that gave the style its name and drew punk and metal fans into the same room. Later records include Full Speed Ahead (1995) and But Wait There's More (2016), and they're still touring and recording today.
