Demon Hunter performs on their 20th Anniversary Tour, supported by Wolves At The Gate and Bloodlines at El Corazon.
Wolves At The Gate play El Corazon on Wednesday, October 21, as part of a larger bill. They're opening for Demon Hunter, who are touring the 20th anniversary of Storm the Gates of Hell, with Bloodlines also on the lineup. It's a full night of heavy music, so you'll get three bands for the price of one.
Wolves At The Gate are a post-hardcore outfit from Cedarville, Ohio, and they've been around since 2008. The current lineup is Abishai Collingsworth on drums, Steve Cobucci on guitar and vocals, Ben Summers on bass, Joey Alarcon on guitar, and Nick Detty on vocals. They started out as 'Goodnight Doctor'—a phrase Cobucci's father used to say—before settling on their current name. That name comes from Acts 20:24-32, where Paul warns of 'savage wolves' who distort the truth. The band explains they aren't the wolves at the gate, but the ones who face them.
Their We Are The Ones EP, which was re-released through Solid State Records, drew on the experience of the members working full-time jobs while recording. The closer, 'Oh The Depths,' featured more than 30 fans who turned up to sing the gang vocals. That's a good sense of how they work: the music is built around the vocals, and they've always leaned into the community around it.
