Country dance night with free dance lessons and live band at Conor Byrne Pub, part of Honky Tonk Tuesdays.
The Strix are taking over Conor Byrne Pub on Tuesday, October 6, for a country dance night that runs from the early evening well past midnight. It's part of Honky Tonk Tuesdays, the weekly country night the pub hosts in the heart of Ballard.
The evening is built for people who want to dance as much as listen. From 8 PM to 9 PM, there's a free dance lesson, so if you've never done this before, you can get your footing before the band takes over. Once the lesson wraps, The Strix play live from 9 PM until midnight, keeping the floor moving for the rest of the night.
There's a bit of history to the room, too. Conor Byrne Pub is a cooperatively run live music venue that's stood for the last hundred years as a watering hole for Seattle musicians, back when it was known as The Owl. Many of the city's legacy acts got their start here, and the room continues to book both budding talent and household names. It's described as a welcoming place for all kinds of leads and follows, which fits the spirit of a night that starts with a lesson and ends with a full dance floor.
