Candlelight: Coldplay & Imagine Dragons

Candlelight is bringing a tribute to Coldplay and Imagine Dragons to the Arctic Club Hotel in downtown Seattle, with a run of dates starting Sunday, October 25. It's a tribute concert, not affiliated with the artists themselves, so you're hearing their songs reinterpreted as classical chamber music by a string quartet rather than the bands playing them live.

The program is a mix of the two. From Coldplay, the set includes "Clocks," "Adventure of a Lifetime," "Fix You," "The Scientist," "feelslikeimfallinginlove," "Viva la Vida," "Sky Full of Stars," and "My Universe." Imagine Dragons contribute "Radioactive," "Eyes Closed," "Thunder," "Follow You," "Bad Liar," and "Believer." The whole thing is played under the glow of hundreds of candles, and the performance lasts about an hour.

Who's playing depends on when you go. The Range Ensemble String Quartet handles the October 25 shows, and the Seattle String Quartet takes over for the November 27, 28 and December 3 dates. The venue is the Arctic Club Hotel, a 1916 Beaux-Arts landmark at 700 3rd Avenue. It's a 400-capacity room known for its opulent architecture, its terra cotta walrus heads, and the Northern Lights Dome Room—a stained-glass dome that frames the performance.

There are five showtimes to choose from: October 25 at 6:15 PM and 8:30 PM, November 27 at 6:15 PM, November 28 at 8:30 PM, and December 3 at 6:15 PM. Doors open an hour before each start and close five minutes before the music begins, and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone. The audience must be 8 years or older, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Tickets start at $37.
