Concert by the legendary punk rock and hardcore band Black Flag at the intimate El Corazon venue in Seattle.
Black Flag play El Corazon on Tuesday, January 19, 2027, at 8 PM. It's a single-band bill, so the night belongs entirely to them.
For anyone who doesn't know the name, Black Flag formed in Long Beach, California, in 1976 around guitarist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member Greg Ginn. They released seven studio albums and two live albums, all on Ginn's independent SST Records, starting with 1981's Damaged. That debut is a living document of hardcore, and it cemented the band as one of the first to make punk music, with lyrics exploring isolation, neurosis, and paranoia. Pitchfork calls the LP a living document of hardcore and NPR describes the project as "revolutionary."
The band is credited with revolutionizing the punk rock landscape with a relentless sound and an uncompromising attitude, and songs like "Rise Above" and "TV Party" define their discography. If you've spent any time with the history of the genre, these are the records and the songs that helped set the stage for everything that followed.
