Annual charity walk of Alzheimer's San Diego, the largest local Alzheimer's walk in San Diego County, held at Balboa Park.
Walk4ALZ returns to Balboa Park on Saturday, October 17, for its tenth year. It's the annual walk put on by Alzheimer's San Diego, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it's the largest local Alzheimer's walk in San Diego County. The organization bills it as the only walk where every dollar raised stays in San Diego County for local Alzheimer's support and research, and those funds keep its education classes, support groups, social activities, and other dementia-specific programs 100% free for those who need them. It's a cause that hits close to home for a lot of people here: nearly 100,000 people in San Diego County are living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia.
This year's edition changes things up with a flexible format. You can walk in person at Balboa Park, or you can walk remotely in small groups from wherever you are. There's also a new registration platform, Neon Fundraise, and a new pet mascot named Charlie. If you're into the fundraising side of things, you can earn incentives by hitting certain milestones.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in San Diego and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

If you're planning to join in person, the walk starts at 8 AM at Balboa Park, at the intersection of President's Way and Park Blvd. Whether you're walking with friends, family, or on your own, it's a way to show up for the local community.
