A volunteer service event where attendees make and donate seed balls, with a silent auction, in collaboration with Green Sports Alliance.
VolunBEERS returns to Embolden Beer Co. on Tuesday, October 6, for the last one of 2026. It's a HandsOn San Diego event that does exactly what the name says: pairs volunteer service with local beer. This time around, the work is making seed balls to donate to the San Diego River Park Foundation.
There's a bit more to the timing than just a random Tuesday. The event is in collaboration with Green Sports Alliance for Green Sports Day, and it falls during San Diego Climate Week, so the seed balls fit right into the theme of the month. HandsOn San Diego is fiscally sponsored by Mission Edge San Diego, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and they run mostly on donations and corporate sponsors. The seed balls you help make go to the River Park Foundation, which works to protect and restore the San Diego River watershed.
Alongside the seed-ball making, there's a silent auction running throughout the night. You can only place bids if you're there in person, so if you're eyeing something, you'll have to be in the room to get it. Since this is the final VolunBEERS of the year, it's the last chance to catch this particular format until 2027.
