Trick-or-Treat on India Street

Trick-or-Treat on India Street returns to Little Italy on Sunday, October 25, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's one of the neighborhood's most beloved traditions, an urban-style trick-or-treating adventure through the streets of Little Italy in downtown San Diego. The event is free.

The Piazza della Famiglia transforms into a The Nightmare Before Christmas scene, anchored by a 13-foot Jack Skellington and stacks of pumpkins. From there, the route runs along India Street and W. Fir Street, with W. Cedar through W. Grape Streets closed to vehicle traffic so kids of all ages can walk the route in costume. Event maps are available at the piazza and via QR codes on A-frames along the way.

Beyond the trick-or-treating, there's a full afternoon's worth of things to do. A costume contest is hosted by Shake Shack Little Italy, and a kids' coloring zone and live music are set up at India and W. Fir Streets. Fall vendors curated by the Little Italy Mercato will also be out, so you can browse while the kids are busy.

For a bit of context, Little Italy is the largest Little Italy in the United States—a 48-square-block neighborhood built in the 1920s by Italian and Sicilian tuna fishermen who once called it the 'Tuna Capital of the World.' It still holds onto that heritage through European-style piazzas, culturally themed events, and traditional flavors, all managed by the Little Italy Association of San Diego. On this day, the Piazza della Famiglia becomes the heart of the action, and the street closures make it easy for families to wander through in costume. It runs from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and it's free.
