A party celebrating the release of Ryan Bradford's unauthorized novelization of the 1994 Jim Carrey film 'The Mask'.
Ryan Bradford is throwing a party at Soda Bar on Tuesday, October 27, to celebrate the release of his unauthorized novelization of The Mask. The movie he's writing from is the 1994 Jim Carrey version, and the book is just that: an unauthorized novelization. The whole thing is presented by Soda Bar.
There's a funny bit of backstory to the project that sets the tone for the night. Bradford reportedly spent nearly four years meticulously writing the book, and as the event description puts it, nobody stopped him. That's the spirit behind the whole thingβa long-term, self-directed project finally coming out in the wild. If you've ever spent way too much time on a hobby or a project that didn't exactly ask for your help, you'll recognize the energy here.

It's a party, so it's more about the gathering than a formal reading, and you'll be able to get your hands on the book there. The night is for over-21s only, and you'll need a valid ID at the door. It starts at 7 PM at Soda Bar, 3615 El Cajon Blvd, in San Diego. Entry is $5, or $15 if you want to walk away with a copy of the book.
